Long before the roads were lit and the laws were written, a smuggler travelled the old coastal routes from Bournemouth toward London, moving quietly and always one step ahead of the law.

 

His cargo was precious: barrels of rum, whisky and wine traded through shadowed ports and carried inland by moonlight. Each cask had a story, shaped by salt air, sea spray and the long road north. On one such journey, caught by a storm and in need of shelter, he turned inland and found refuge in Salisbury.

 

That night, a single barrel was cracked open, warped from travel and heavy with age, and shared among those who offered warmth, food and silence. In return for their hospitality, the smuggler left behind small tokens from his travels. Objects, curiosities and fragments of distant places began to gather over time.

 

Twisted Barrel is born from that tradition. A place where every drink carries a past, and every artefact on the walls tells a quiet story of those who passed through before.
